Some Parenting Tips from Aunty Lyd of BBIM

Sharing some notes taken from BBIM Annual Parent's Conference 2013, 19 Jan @ PICC

1. Do not do things for your child. Instead teach him to do things for himself.

2. Give your child ample time to complete tasks.

3. Do not give tasks that are impossible for your child to achieve.

4. Never promise material things for doing tasks.

 

5. Watch out for bad language from your other children & neighborhood friends.

6. Learn to limit & arrange the number of toys.

7. Do not use a trunk to store toys.

8. Limit exaggerated tuition's & after school activities.

9. Teach your children good routine.

10. Enjoy at least a weekly quality time with your child/children.

11. Control the amount and kind of programmes your child watches at home.

12. Make your home English friendly.

13. Encourage language & intellectual development through reading.

14. Never use a pacifier.

15. Control your voice level.

16. Never bang doors or objects.

17. Teach your children to clean their room at an early age.

Remember, the character of our children tomorrow is shaped by what they learn from us today.
